Lt. Col Christopher C. Olsen

Lt. Col Christopher C. Olsen is an Air Force Fellow at the Mitchell Institute for Aerospace Studies in Arlington, Virginia. The Mitchell Institute is an independent, nonpartisan policy research institute established to provide creative, insightful policy options that better empower our nation’s leaders by informing the national security debate, educating about aerospace power’s unique role in securing America’s global interests, and cultivating air minded talent.

Lt. Col Olsen received his commission through ROTC from Texas A&M University in 2008, graduating with a degree in mechanical engineering. He also holds a master’s degree in systems engineering and a Doctor of Philosophy in aeronautical engineering from the Air Force Institute of Technology. His experience includes technical intelligence analysis, aerospace research, and science and technology program management.

Lt. Col Olsen has served in a variety of technical, leadership, and staff positions. His assignments include Flight Commander, 34th Intelligence Squadron; Branch Chief, Nuclear Command, Control, and Communications Solutions, National Security Agency; RC-SW Detachment OIC (deployed), 777th Expeditionary Prime BEEF Squadron, Camp Leatherneck, Afghanistan; Chief of Plans and Program, 707th ISR Group; and Director of Operations for Autonomy, Power and Control Division, Air Force Research Laboratory.
